The significance of a ‘program’ collection is often taken for granted in home furnishings.
That’s been the overarching theme of home furnishings since the pandemic, though. Suddenly the world had a whole lot more time inside when the market seemed saturated and static, even stagnant. The home became the home office, and the little things, quite fittingly, took on a whole new meaning.
The upside? We and many like us learned a greater appreciation for ‘little’ things, ever since. This boom we’ve enjoyed since couldn’t be more antithetical, whatever jaundice glance was cast on the ‘common’ things before.
To us, a program is now a milestone of maturity, success and the ever-elusive x-factor in craft. Therein, all quantifiable elements and intentions somehow yield more than the sum of their parts, like weaving alchemy. We know firsthand the fortune that follows lightning in a bottle when a new line becomes a hit. Rug collections are a risk, no matter the sentiment of the time, and risk is always vital to growth.
It’s quite fitting, then, that our first-ever program would be from our Scandinavian Collection.
The Scandinavian masters were unappreciated in their time, after all. Even now our field has only scratched the surface of understanding the renaissance they brought about. We’ve always striven for our own Scandinavian Collection to be a renaissance of the renaissance — a contribution to the style through equal parts reverence and reimagining of what it could be to a whole new market.
In celebration, we’ve elected to share a glimpse into that collection here. Today, we hope to shine a light on our most well-received Scandinavian Kilims in particular, including our program selections. The soul of this collection is, after all, one of reverence as much as reinvention of an iconic style. But we’d be lying to say these works weren’t exemplars, if not the very finest, we have to offer.
