Originating from Persia between 1880-1890, this antique traditional Bakhtiari Persian rug enjoys one of the most highly stylized all-over patterns of its era. Hand knotted in high quality, luminous wool, the field and border alike portray a series of blossoms, tulips, palmettes, and other variations of floral symbols complemented by a vibrant red, aqua blue, golden-yellow, pink, and green naturalist imagery. Keeping with the theme of a forest depiction, the field and border both employ perfectly mirrored bird and hen depictions, (implying omens of good fortune and prosperity in the era) though it is rare to see these remarkably detailed epictions including robins, cardinals, swallows, and more against a beige-yellow field and forest-green border.
