Hand knotted in a fine wool pile originating from China between 1910-1920, this antique Peking rug employs many traditional and transitional design elements both emboldening and departing from the Art Deco sensibilities of idyllic Peking pieces. In particular the loom and vase depiction mirrored in the field is stylized more geometrically than the typically curvilinear Peking motifs, complemented by a distinctly uniform series of borders in many subtle tones of indigo and navy blue.
