On the Design:
Keen eyes will note the signature is woven into the lower-left corner; both the year and two sets of initials. These may reference the artist or workshop, though “SSK” may refer to the “slip slip knit” technique as well. Its field is sky blue, befitting the central illustration of an Eagle carrying the revolutionary American flag (as signified by its stars) and a banner that reads “LIBERTY” and “1776” in its talons.
