Vintage Persian Tribal Runner with Orange Medallions & Pictorials by Rug & Kilim

This vintage 3×7 Persian runner is a rare mid-century tribal piece, hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.

Its design plays orange medallions on a beige and gray field within brightly colored borders with geometric patterns. Keen eyes will further admire its most collectible element—four identical pictorial patterns in the open field’s corners. These most likely represent primitivist depictions of local animals, sometimes connoting a more personal connection or spiritual aspiration from the weaver. Nomadic pieces like this are extremely collectible, personal works of Persian folk art with old-world charm and comfortable presence. 

This mid-century tribal runner further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.  It’s ready for the floor, and is equally ideal in wall-hanging projects, too.
