Vintage Afghan Tribal Kilim rug, with Stripes, from Rug & Kilim

Handwoven in wool, circa 1950-1960, this 5×10 vintage Afghan tribal kilim, in hues of red, pink, black and beige/brown, features fencepost geometric patterns across the entire field.

As an exciting new curation in Rug & Kilim Collection, this rug, features fencepost geometric patterns. The color palette of red, pink, black and beige/brown adds warmth and depth to the kilim. The detailed geometric border features uniform motifs whereas the field displays clean sleek fencepost patterns. 

Striped pieces like this were often woven from several long, narrow pieces into one, due to the fact that the weavers had to work in smaller spaces. In a good condition, this rug further stands as a testament to the support of Afghan women.
