Handmade in wool, circa 1950-1960, this 5×6 vintage Shahsavan tribal Persian Kilim rug, features geometric stripes across the field. 

On the Design:

Keen eyes for detail will admire the repetitive vertical striped pattern of this rug. Striped pieces like this were often woven from several long, narrow pieces into one, due to the fact that the weavers had to work in smaller spaces. The usage of beige/brown, red and orange tones create a striking visual contrast. The vibrant colorway plays joyfully in the patterns, and the movement created by these variations is impressive.
