Handwoven in wool, circa 1950-1960, this 5×11 vintage Afghan tribal kilim rug, with stripes across its surface in beige/brown, red and blue, is a classic Afghani design in the Rug & Kilim collection. 

On the Design:

Originating from Afghanistan, this rug is a rich versatile piece reflecting the unique striped design Afghan kilims. The design features stripes in beige/brown, red and blue across the surface. Striped pieces like this were often woven from several long, narrow pieces into one, due to the fact that the Afghan weavers had to work in smaller spaces.

This mid-century Afghan kilim rug enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
