Rug & Kilim’s Baluch Tribal Rug with Colorful Geometric Patterns

Hand knotted in wool, this 6×8 Baluch rug represents a new line of tribal carpets in the Modern Classics Collection by Rug & Kilim. Each piece  represents the work of women weavers in Afghanistan, preserving the rich tradition of their centuries-old craft.

On the Design:

This piece features geometric patterns in a repeat of medallions and tribal motifs in a polychromatic play of rich and vibrant colors. Deep brown and burgundy underscore orange, blue, red and green tones among the many at play. A keen eye would note criss-cross patterns on the field and other traditional designs on the borders in similar colorways—further keeping with the primitivist designs preserved in this collection. It’s a comfortable, personal work of dedication and nomadic folk art, with a versatile size and vast design applications.
