Antique Bergama Traditional Geometric Red and Blue Wool Rug 10914

Originating from Turkey between 1900-1920, this antique traditional Turkish rug is of a Bergama design with geometric and floral inspirations. Hand knotted in high quality wool, these Beige/Brown, Beige/Brown, blue, and red geometric gul patterns are complemented by ram’s horn motifs of fertility and power, as well as monster’s feet curved around the major motifs with a finely woven outline. Further contributing to the protective, warding motif is the beige innermost border featuring Tarak comb symbols, signifying good fortune for a birth or marriage; the most prominent instance of the bright, dimensional beige apart from the mirrored guard border fringes.
