$6,240.00
$6,240.00Originating from Persia in 1960, this vintage transitional Baluck wool Persian rug features a distinctly rich variation of color and uncommon pattern. Hand knotted in high quality, luminous wool, the medallions and dancing columns in the field and border design represent ram’s horns, a crescent and fork-shaped Persian symbol of strength, power, and protection among its many stories themes. Though Baluch designs were known for emphasizing one repeated symbol, it is uncommon to see this sheer variation of ram’s Horn motifs in one piece—from the branching designs in the field to the vine-scroll patterns in the wrapping border—as well as to see it complimented by the many five-pronged geometric Goz eye symbols (also representing protection). Emboldened by radiant, multi tonal variations of gold, copper, and orange-brown colorways and mirrored tan fringes, it is additionally rare to see the Dual medallions in the field shift colorways while the rest of the portrait celebrates universal symmetry of both its colorways and finely woven patterns.
