A vintage 2×3 Persian Gabbeh rug in the latest additions to Rug & Kilim’s curation of rare tribal pieces. Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.

On the Design:

This mid-century piece showcases a representation of a tree with geometric symbols almost resembling birds on its branches. Connoisseurs may also note similarity to pomegranate and “tree of life” motifs in this minimalist tribal approach. Reds, blues and similarly vibrant hues sit beautifully in this distinguished golden-orange background with a whimsical presence. An exemplary small-size rug with lush, thick pile—from one of the most primitive, collectible shabby-chic rug styles.
