A vintage 4×7 Persian Gabbeh rug, from the latest grand entry to Rug & Kilim’s curation of rare tribal pieces. Hand-knotted in wool circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This mid-century piece features beige-brown and black diamond medallions atop a gray background—sometimes called lozenges in tribal vernacular. Keen eyes will admire a deep midnight blue accent and green punctuations of a sophisticated touch to this classic, cultured piece. Such a comfortable use of archaic design exemplifies works of this provenance—among the most primitive, collectible shabby-chic styles.
