While the medallion design is the visual focal point of this hand-made vintage Turkish kilim rug, the bright gold signature in the upper left corner lends a distinctive factor to its collectible and its repute as a mid-century kilim rug, hand woven circa 1960. The signature at the bottom states “Erdogan-E-S-1963” most likely remarking the creator and the date of production in kind at 1963, just on the tail of the mid 20th Century. On the exceptional design, within the center medallion the patterns are featured outlined in red, incorporating colors such as brown, orange, blue, and yellow. This first medallion features a pink background, as it gives way to the next shape that is laid out in brown. Unique floral designs in red, orange, green, and pink radiate against the more neutral, industrial gray and beige tones, particularly in the outer borders and field corners enjoying a natural dimensionality against the tasteful abrash of this kilim. A floral border of flowers in pink, red, and brown is encased on both sides by a beaded style in pink and red.
