Vintage Shahsavan Persian Kilim in Red with Blue Medallions – by Rug & Kilim

This vintage 6×13 Shahsavan kilim is a distinct gallery rug in Rug & Kilim’s Persian tribal curations. Handwoven in wool, it’s believed to originate circa 1950-1960.

The design prefers blue medallions on a red open field, wrapped in rich brown and off-white borders with gorgeous complementary natural. Matching motifs on the medallions and borders further highlight the fine detail and sense of movement this graphic piece enjoys. This is a rare choice for this provenance, and an exemplar in Persian tribal rugs as well.

This mid-century Persian Shahsavan flat weave further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
