Rug Washing FAQ's

1What makes your rug washing service different?
Unlike outsourced services, we maintain our own dedicated cleaning facilities and perform every wash in-house. This allows us to control the process from start to finish and apply our decades of specialized expertise to each piece with the attention it deserves.
2What kinds of rugs can you clean?
We clean a wide variety of handmade and high-end rugs, including antique Persian and Turkish rugs, Moroccan and Scandinavian flatweaves, contemporary Nepalese pieces, hand-knotted silk rugs, and more. Each rug is treated with an understanding of its material, construction, and cultural context.
3How do you assess a rug before cleaning?
Every rug undergoes a thorough condition analysis by trained professionals before any cleaning takes place. This assessment includes fiber testing, dye stability checks, and structural review, which allows us to determine the safest and most effective washing method for each piece.
4Do you use different cleaning methods for different types of rugs?
Yes. Our cleaning process is never one-size-fits-all. Depending on the rug’s origin, age, weave, and condition, we tailor the approach-whether it’s a gentle low-moisture treatment for antique silk or a deep wash for a durable contemporary flatweave.
5Is your rug cleaning safe for antique or fragile pieces?
Absolutely. Our team includes trained conservationists who specialize in handling delicate and historically significant rugs. For such pieces, we use soft brushes, pH-neutral solutions, and light moisture to clean without compromising structure or patina.
6Do you treat stains, odors, or pet-related issues?
Yes. We regularly treat stains from food, wine, pets, and water damage, as well as odors from smoke or long-term storage. These treatments are integrated into the cleaning process, with extra care taken to prevent damage to the pile or dyes.
7How long does the rug washing process take?
Most rug cleaning projects are completed within 1–2 weeks. Timelines can vary depending on the size of the rug, the type of treatment required, and any additional services such as stain removal or pre-restoration prep.
8Is your pricing competitive?
We offer fair and transparent pricing that reflects the level of care, facility standards, and artisan experience we bring to each rug. While our methods are conservation-grade, our rates remain reasonable for the quality of service offered.
9Can I bring my rug to you, or do you offer pickup and delivery?
We’re happy to accommodate both. Clients are welcome to drop rugs off at our showroom, or we can arrange for pickup and delivery-including white glove service for larger or delicate pieces.
10Do you offer regular maintenance cleaning as well as deep cleaning?
Yes. In addition to restorative washing, we offer routine cleaning services for ongoing rug care. This helps extend the life and appearance of your rug and is especially useful in high-traffic or seasonal environments.
