Cyrus did not arrive here by the straightest path. In fact, he was warned not to. “Everyone said, don’t get into rugs. Don’t even bother, maybe real estate is for you. Too hard. Too uncertain,” he recalls with a soft laugh. Fresh out of college, he went into private equity and business management—linear, lucrative, logical. But it didn’t quite echo.

Above, a custom tiger rug design from Rug & Kilim’s Burano Collection underscores the library of a country house and cottage in Sussex, England—designed by Studio Hollond. This particular rug adapts the tiger-skin pictorial to a new large scale in blue, rust orange and black tones, playing with a rich area and playful bookcase in chartreuse tones.
