5 Rugs and Kilims that Redefine ‘Simple’ Design

          What do these features from some of our favorite projects this year have in common? 

          The answer is simple — and that’s ‘simplicity itself.

          We see a subtle, but fascinating trend in ‘simple’ aesthetics in handmade rugs, and the opportunities have been a delight. We’ve had entire collections devoted to reinventing what a ‘simple’ rug could be. What could it do for a room? Is there a new way we can get there that no one else has tried? Most of all, what is ‘there’ when neutral, plain and even pattern-less rugs speak to many people in different ways?

          ‘Simple’ is never the same as ‘ordinary’ when you work with us, and Josh’s design team continues to explore new textures, weaves, and entire collections in that spirit. So today we celebrate a few of our favorite projects with designers who use our ‘simple’ rugs in the finest ways.

Chused & Co – Award-Winning Flat Weave

          Architectural Digest praises the living room in Chused & Co.’s 1970s Gowanus loft as the owner’s new favorite space. Here, our Carpet Design Awards-winning flat weave brings inventive texture yet simple color for a clean, yet creative complement.

          The feature further praises Jenna Chused’s “knack for subtly using colour, texture and pattern to create nuanced design schemes.”

Julie Hillman Design – High-Pile Rug  

          Galerie Magazine highlight’s Julie Hillman’s sitting room in this condo for its “comfortable furnishings equipped with striking artwork.”

          Here our wall-to-wall custom rug lends delicious texture that begs to be walked on, and a cozy foundation for gorgeous collectibles to be admired. Livable, yet sophisticated, and exactly what we strive to bring every project.

Carrier and Company – Scandinavian Kilim

          Each room is richer than the last in this Connecticut home by Carrier and Company, but the den holds a special place in our hearts.

          Here, our Scandinavian Kilim lends a smart contemporary foundation under classic symmetry and the most stately use of colors. Our take on Swedish flat weaves is a new language in design, and here it’s the ideal example of how subtle detail can make all the difference.

Jaegger Interior Design – Texture of Color

          Modern Luxury Interiors celebrates Jessica Jaegger’s work on this South Florida apartment and its “light but warm aesthetic” ideal to the waterfront home.

          Here, our Texture of Color Collection lends soft colors and striae in the most soothing, natural presence. The collection is Josh’s patternless take on pattern, and sits comfortably anywhere — especially coastal homes where relaxation means everything.
